A Little About Betsy Foster

Betsy Foster, (Performance Company & DCG Faculty) – Betsy began her ballet training at the age of seven with Christopher Flynn in Rochester, MI. At the age of twelve she began her serious course of classical ballet training in Royal Oak, MI with Rose Marie Floyd, past president of the Cecchetti Council of America. While studying with Rose Marie, Betsy attended the annual International Cecchetti Seminars, where she was a scholarship winner. She took the Elementary Level and Grades I-IV of the Cecchetti Examinations, passing either highly commended or commended.  Since June of 2015, Betsy has completed her Grade I & Grade II teacher’s examinations and is a member teacher of the Cecchetti Council of America.
Betsy also attended the Ballet West summer program in Aspen/Snowmass, CO. She then attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts summer program and was admitted in to their High School Program. Betsy attended UNC Chapel Hill and received a B.A. in Communications.
Betsy taught at Mallory Graham’s Dance South in High Point, NC for 13 years and at Dance South Performing Arts for 6 years. While at Dance South, Betsy was also an adjunct professor at High Point University in the theatre department. There she taught a theatre dance course and choreographed three musicals. Betsy has also choreographed for Kernersville Little Theatre, Southeast Guilford High School and Andrews High School. Betsy has also attended Cecchetti International Teachers Seminars in Holland, MI.
Most recently, Betsy was hired as the director of the dance department at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts in High Point, NC. Betsy is looking forward to her new experiences at Penn-Griffen and at The Dance Center of Greensboro teaching classical ballet and assisting with The Nutcracker Ballet.
