A Little About Alexis Saar
Alexis Saar(DCG Faculty) – Alexis Saar grew up taking dancing and singing lessons in Binghamton, NY at the Helene Yelverton Dance studio. As a young dancer, Alexis spent two summers at camp in NYC directed by Michael Rafter, the director of several Broadway shows like “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Sweet Chariot.” While at this camp Alexis had an opportunity to work with both Broadway stars Sutton Foster and Idina Menzel. Alexis decided to continue studying her passion for dance in college and attended the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. Here Alexis studied many genres of dance including, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, and Tap. While at Dean College she studied under teachers William Evans, Gregory King, Todd Shanks, Robbie Mulrey, Laura Young, Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp, Shura Baryshnikov, and many other amazing teachers. Alexis has performed in numerous Dean College performances as well as Dean’s Company. She has performed in many musicals since she was very young, her latest musical performance being Dean College’s presentation of “In The Heights.” Her latest dance performance was a solo choreographed by William Evans entitled “Phenomenal Women.” Alexis is a member of the Boston Tap Company, in Massachusetts, where she studied under the very experienced tapper Shawn Fielder. Alexis taught at the Conklin Dance Academy in NY while on breaks for the past four years and has just recently moved to Greensboro after graduating college in the summer of 2016. Alexis is very excited to be a new member of the Dance Center of Greensboro’s faculty!
